If you're on a quest for a hands-on teaching qualification and aspire to either accredit your existing teaching skills and practice or can meet the minimum requirement of 30 hours of teaching practice during the course, the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) is your perfect choice.

Notably, the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is not a mandatory prerequisite for entry into this program. However, since it aligns with the first year of an undergraduate degree level, we do expect candidates to hold a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and ICT at Level 2.

Additionally, candidates should be at least 19 years of age and possess a strong grasp of the subject they aspire to teach or deliver training in.

To complete your enrolment, you'll need to fulfil the final prerequisite of 30 hours of paid or voluntary classroom teaching practice, with three hours to be assessed through video recording, Zoom, or an authorised observer who will join you in the classroom on our behalf. Course Duration

Learners can choose to complete the course via one of the following options:

Self-Study of approximately 140 hours, again, at your own pace.

Depending on your existing knowledge, experience, and other commitments, you could condense the self-study into weeks or months, to suit your circumstances.

Course Qualification

Successfully completing the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training entitles you to teach adults in FE Colleges and/or begin your career as in Independent Training Provider in your chosen field.

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is split into the following units:

Understanding roles, responsibilities, and relationships in education and training.
Identifying individual learning and development needs.
Planning to ensure the needs of learners in education and training are fully met.
Learning to effectively deliver education and training.
Understanding and managing behaviours within the learning environment.
Understanding how to carry out assessment of learners in education and training.
Using appropriate resources for education and training.
Engaging with employers to facilitate employee development.

To pass this certificate, you must gain 36 credits from eight units.

On successfully completing Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, you will be able to:

Understand ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
Understand the relationships between teachers and other professionals in education and training
Plan inclusive teaching and learning, meeting internal and external requirements
Deliver inclusive teaching and learning, meeting internal and external requirements
Evaluate own practice in both the planning and delivering of inclusive teaching and learning

How Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is assessed

This certificate is assessed by:

One assignment
A portfolio of evidence
Three hours of observed teaching practice and reflection.

Feedback will be provided, should your assignment not reach the minimum standards to pass the qualification. You may use this feedback to assist in your resubmission. Although there are no limits to the number of resubmissions, most pass on their second submission.

All candidates will be offered a course induction session, with ongoing access to an assigned tutor who can be contacted by phone, email, or within study groups.

The entire training content of the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is available to all, free of charge through our eLearning programme, at any time of the day or night, from any device with an internet connection.

This includes all PowerPoint presentations, a personalised study plan, all course notes and handouts, and is accessible for an initial period of 12 months (you may be permitted an extension under extenuating circumstances).

The CET is only for teaching adults such as those in private training providers or those in colleges.

Do you supply learners for assessment purposes?

Typically, we do not supply learners for assessment. Depending on your subject, we may have partners that can support your teaching placement.

Is the Level 4 CET suitable for online teaching or e-learning environments?

Yes, the Level 4 CET is versatile and relevant for teaching in various environments, including online or e-learning platforms. It equips you with the skills to adapt your teaching methods to different modes of delivery, making it suitable for modern teaching settings.

How long have I got to complete this qualification?

You will have 12-months from the purchase date to complete your course. Should you run over this time, you may be able to apply for special dispensation to extend this time by an additional 3-months or alternatively it is an additional cost of £69 to extend it for a further year. Please note extensions are subject to current qualification requirements and may not always be possible.

Can I enrol in the Level 4 CET if I have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training?

Matthew provides a very high standard of education and training. The course included useful real-life examples, key studies and practical knowledge, which made learning easier and more meaningful.

The training was delivered partly online and partly through webinars, which worked really well. I never felt alone during the course and felt like I was attending real classes with support throughout. The PowerPoint presentations were clear, helpful and easy to follow.

Matthew is approachable, supportive and easy to communicate with. The website is well organised and easy to use.

I spoke first of all to Matt as I was unsure which was the best course for me. He was very helpful and give me honest and accurate advice on which was the best course to join.

I chose to do the online only version which was right for me, and found all the online videos and training material provided very helpful. As with all online training courses it can take a while to navigate around the platform but this one was fairly simple and easy to use once you had figured it out.

Communication overall was very good and I typically got quick and helpful emails/messages back. With the option to book online meetings if you need them, I did this once and found it helpful

The options to choose between a tutor lead course, online tutoring course and self-study course were really stand-out compared to most other training schools I looked into. This suited my requirements around other commitments and my preferred speed of study. In general the communication via the emails was reasonably quick with responses coming through within less than 5 days when asked. Only thing I found was a little misleading change of information or assessment requirements in my final few modules which I think should have been realistically updated on the online portals (I chose the self-study option). And the other thing I found a bit difficult was the microteach group sessions which were not as regular as I would have expected - however the option was provided to undertake a self micro-teach which (with a little luck) I was able to undertake eventually. Aside from this, the course content is thorough and helpful to all types of learners providing video footage, written text, regular assessments and portfolio requirements in an easy to access format via the online portal. Would recommend this course if you're in a hurry to qualify and looking for reasonable pricing structure. Thanks.

I recently completed my EQA qualification with Matthew and found the course to be well resourced and have all the information I needed to gain a thorough understanding of the processes of this role.
