Unlock Your Teaching Career Potential with the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET)!
If you're on a quest for a hands-on teaching qualification and aspire to either accredit your existing teaching skills and practice or can meet the minimum requirement of 30 hours of teaching practice during the course, the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) is your perfect choice.
Notably, the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is not a mandatory prerequisite for entry into this program. However, since it aligns with the first year of an undergraduate degree level, we do expect candidates to hold a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and ICT at Level 2.
Additionally, candidates should be at least 19 years of age and possess a strong grasp of the subject they aspire to teach or deliver training in.
To complete your enrolment, you'll need to fulfil the final prerequisite of 30 hours of paid or voluntary classroom teaching practice, with three hours to be assessed through video recording, Zoom, or an authorised observer who will join you in the classroom on our behalf. Embark on your teaching journey with us today, and watch your educational aspirations come to life!
Learners can choose to complete the course via one of the following options:
Classroom training over 4 days (with homework to be completed at your own pace)
Virtual learning over 4 days (with homework to be completed at your own pace)
Self-Study of approximately 140 hours, again, at your own pace.
Depending on your existing knowledge, experience, and other commitments, you could condense the self-study into weeks or months, to suit your circumstances.
Successfully completing the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training entitles you to teach adults in FE Colleges and/or begin your career as in Independent Training Provider in your chosen field.

Yes, if you have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, you can progress to the Level 4 CET to further enhance your teaching qualifications. The Level 4 CET builds upon the Level 3 Award and provides a deeper understanding of educational principles and practices.
The Level 4 CET includes a practical teaching component. This may involve classroom teaching, online teaching, or a combination of both.Â
After completing the Level 4 CET, you can pursue various career paths, including roles in teaching in colleges, vocational training organisations, adult education, corporate training, and more. Additionally, it opens doors to leadership and management positions within educational institutions. The CET is not suitable for working in schools.Â
The decision to pursue the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) or the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) depends on your career goals, current qualifications, and the level of responsibility you aspire to in the field of education and training. Here are some considerations to help you decide:
Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET):
Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET):
In summary, if you're new to teaching or training and want to start your career in education, the CET is a suitable choice. On the other hand, if you have some teaching experience and aim for more senior or leadership roles, the DET is the right path to pursue.
It's essential to consider your career objectives, prior qualifications, and the specific requirements of the teaching positions you're interested in before making your decision. You may also want to consult with career counsellors or educational institutions for guidance in choosing the most appropriate qualification for your goals.
