The role of an IQA, like a manager or quality manager is to ensure that the service is performed well. The role of the IQA during the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is not the tutor but checking that the IQA process has been carried out according to what is being assessed. The EQA or the external quality assurer is an important person in the process of quality assurer. In the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, we are allocated an EQA from the awarding body. Basically, they do the same job as an IQA by they are responsible for ensuring that the training centre meets their quality standards. As someone who has worked as an EQA, your trust of a centre depends upon how well the IQA is doing their job. If the IQA is doing their job, then the EQA will find the same things on an external audit but sadly that’s not the case. In my experience, many IQAs don’t know what they are doing to the role of the EQA is to support the centre and support the IQA.
The joint goal of an IQA and EQA is to ensure that learners receive a good experience, the standards improve, and credibility of the qualification remains.

We will look at the role of employers within the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. When I say employers in this instance, it doesn’t mean training providers but regular employers. It might be that the employer sends an IQA on a course, or that the employer’s staff are being assessed so it is important that we manage employers to ensure that they are in the know with the training and we will need to consult with them to gain access to their premises to conduct our IQA activities.
