What will I Achieve?

By completing the assessments, you’ll gain the Level 2 Functional Skills Certificate in English and Maths, proving your competence in practical, everyday applications of these essential skills. This qualification is widely recognised by employers, colleges, and universities across the UK.

How does it Work?

Register for the Assessment – Sign up and let us know which subject(s) you want to be assessed in.
Get Prepared – We’ll provide you with guidance on what to expect, along with practice tests to boost your confidence.
Take the Assessments – Complete the online assessments at your convenience.
Achieve Your Certificate – Once you’ve successfully passed, your certificate will be issued promptly.

What does the English Assessment consist of?

The English assessment consists of three areas:

Speaking, Listening and Communicating - you will have a 30 minute discussion with your tutor and peers to gauge your speaking, listening and communication skills and will be marked as pass or refer
Reading - this is a 60 minute online examination.
Writing - this is a 60 minute online examination.

What does the Maths Assessment consist of?

The Maths assessment consists of two different exams:

Non-calculator exam - 30 minute online exam.
Calculator exam - 105 minute online exam with the use of a non-scientific calculator.

How are the exams completed?

For both the English and Maths, you will complete all exams at home. You will join a Zoom meeting where you will be supported by an Invigilator.

How many resits can I have?

For both the English and Maths, you have 2 attempts to pass. If you fail to pass after 2 attempts, you can pay for an additional resit at £30 per test.

How does IQA fit in with assessment?

Internal Quality Assurance is the next step up from assessment. You work in a management role and are responsible for ensuring that your assessors and trainers run training courses to the standards of the organisation and the awarding body. You are the source of support for the assessors and the subject expert in your organisation.

How long do I have to pass?

You have 12 months to take and pass the exam.

What skills will I gain from completing the Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice?

By completing this award, you gain advanced skills in internal quality assurance, enabling effective assessment and maintenance of the quality of assessment processes and practices.

Matthew provides a very high standard of education and training. The course included useful real-life examples, key studies and practical knowledge, which made learning easier and more meaningful.

The training was delivered partly online and partly through webinars, which worked really well. I never felt alone during the course and felt like I was attending real classes with support throughout. The PowerPoint presentations were clear, helpful and easy to follow.

Matthew is approachable, supportive and easy to communicate with. The website is well organised and easy to use.

One thing to be aware of is that the final session/conversation after completing the training was recorded. We were informed that the recording was for internal purposes only and would not be shared with other studentsot other patties.

I spoke first of all to Matt as I was unsure which was the best course for me. He was very helpful and give me honest and accurate advice on which was the best course to join.

I chose to do the online only version which was right for me, and found all the online videos and training material provided very helpful. As with all online training courses it can take a while to navigate around the platform but this one was fairly simple and easy to use once you had figured it out.

Communication overall was very good and I typically got quick and helpful emails/messages back. With the option to book online meetings if you need them, I did this once and found it helpful

I would definitely recommend this company and have already done this for two of my colleagues who want to do the same course

The options to choose between a tutor lead course, online tutoring course and self-study course were really stand-out compared to most other training schools I looked into. This suited my requirements around other commitments and my preferred speed of study. In general the communication via the emails was reasonably quick with responses coming through within less than 5 days when asked. Only thing I found was a little misleading change of information or assessment requirements in my final few modules which I think should have been realistically updated on the online portals (I chose the self-study option). And the other thing I found a bit difficult was the microteach group sessions which were not as regular as I would have expected - however the option was provided to undertake a self micro-teach which (with a little luck) I was able to undertake eventually. Aside from this, the course content is thorough and helpful to all types of learners providing video footage, written text, regular assessments and portfolio requirements in an easy to access format via the online portal. Would recommend this course if you're in a hurry to qualify and looking for reasonable pricing structure. Thanks.
