AET Lesson 9: Microteach
Your Microteach should not be completed without approval of your lesson plan which needs to be submitted to your tutor first.
Where learners have not attended classroom or virtual learning courses, there is an option to use either naturally occurring evidence in your place of work or join a monthly online Microteach session with other trainee teachers using Zoom.
If you decide to use your evidence, the footage of your lesson must be recorded clearly with both the tutor and learners (minimum 2x learners aged over 14) where audio and video is clear so that you can be assessed. Evidence must be natural so simulations will not be accepted. For example, training colleagues, training members of the public in any setting such as work, hobbies or interests is allowed. A Microteach session with your children at home will be rejected.
Your Microteach must be completed live with a tutor, this means that we must be present either in-person or via Teams / Zoom where you will setup your recording in a corner.
You may use a colleague as your live tutor however your tutor must be qualified to at least a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
Ensure that your tutor has agreed your plans in advance of delivery. If you are completing your Microteach away from us, it will need to be an hour long and at least two participants must give feedback of your session.
Those that are learning in the classroom or online will be teaching 15-20 minute sessions with their peers whilst being observed by their tutor.
You will need to complete your session plan in advance of your session and submit to your tutor for approval.
Following your session, you will need to reflect on your session detailing how it went and what could be better in your main Candidate Learner Portfolio.
If you have delivered your session remotely, you will need to get at least 2 of your learners to complete your feedback form below. Those that are with a group Microteach session will complete their peer observation with the class which will be submitted with your portfolio. These are required.
